In 1997, H.J. O'Connell Construction Ltd. formed a partnership with the Mushuau Innu of Davis Inlet, Labrador to pursue opportunities in the construction of the new community of Natuashish (Sango Bay), Labrador. The partnership successfully constructed an access road, airstrip and terminal building and installed the main water supply line to the new community.

O'Connell has built hundreds of kilometers of roads and highways throughout Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario and Vermont.The company has developed particular expertise in the construction of roads in remote areas including vast sections of the Trans Labrador Highway from Labrador West to the coast at Port Hope - Simpson. These projects included massive earth/rock moving, aggregate supply, asphalt, concrete, paving and other related tasks.
